I was born in Russia and adopted as a child, along with my two biological siblings. We grew up on a farm outside of Watertown, South Dakota with our other four adoptive siblings. I attended South Dakota State University, where I met my wonderful husband. We married in 2019 and have since lived in Iowa City and Rapid City, and now call Pierre our home. We share our lives with our sweet dog, Mila, who will be turning 5 this fall.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy creating art, gardening, baking, reading, and running—especially running! I’m a competitive runner and have competed in three marathons and two half marathons, and I’m currently training for my first ultra marathon. My favorite type of artwork is embroidery. I love experimenting with patterns and shapes, and I find it a peaceful way to unwind. I also love spending time in nature and exploring the outdoors.

Teaching is my true passion, and I find myself loving this profession more with each passing year. It is a true gift to be around children and help them grow into the people they are called to be.
