SEPT. 21-25: Homecoming Week

Religion: 

We will start our lessons on Digital Citizenship focusing on media choices that we make and determining what is personal vs private information.

Virtue: Prayerfulness

Memory Verse: Pray without ceasing.  1 Thessalonians 5:17

Social Studies: 

This week we will continue to learn about South Dakota geography.

Science:

Students will learn that energy can be stored, released and transferred.

Math:

We'll use our adding and subtracting skills to solve multi-step word problems.

To help make learning 4th grade math concepts a little easier, I’d like students to build confidence with their multiplication facts. During the first month or so of school, students will be asked to practice their multiplication facts each week. We will spend some time practicing in class, but the majority of the practice should be completed at home. Regular practice will help students become more fluent with their facts and feel more confident as we move into more challenging math concepts. 

Language Arts:  

We will continue our novel, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. We will focus on finding problems and solutions in our reading and fluency. 

We will continue our unit on writing a narrative.

*This year, students will participate in our Reading Passport Adventure! Instead of traditional reading logs, students will complete monthly reading challenges, explore different genres, and earn stamps or stickers in their Reading Passports. Students will also complete brief book check-ins to share ratings, recommendations, and favorite parts of books they have finished. As a class, we will work together toward reading goals and celebrate our progress throughout the year.

*If you would like to come to lunch, please call the office before noon the day before.  We will only be accepting 7 visitors for each lunch due to space.

*Please send a note if a student brings cough drops to school.

*Please send a note if you know your student will be missing a day of school.
