Religion: 

During Lent, we'll go through each of the main steps that leads Jesus to the Resurrection, continuing with Jesus is condemned to death, carrying of the cross and the crucifixion.

This week's memory verse: Matthew 7:12 Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets. 

This week's virtue: courtesy

Social Studies: 

This week we will start our unit on the American Revolution. 

Science:

Scientists will jump into our final science unit on plants and animals, focusing on structures and adaptations.

While learning about plants and animals, we are also going to participate in March Mammal Madness. This week the battles continue!

Math:

We'll continue with conversions and start working with standard measurements of length, time, weight and capacity.

Math Homework

1. Students can play the math game of the week at home with a family member. All games require very few materials: mostly dice or a deck of cards. If there is a game board (piece of paper), the students can bring that back to me completed so I can see it's been done, OR it can just be written in their assignment books that the math game has been complete.

2. The second option is on the computer: Zearn or Khan Academy. If you choose the computer option, the requirement is 30 minutes per week. Again, these math homework minutes can be written in the assignment book.

3. The third option is paper homework: this would be similar worksheets to what we complete in class. Again, if you choose this option, please ensure your child completes roughly 30 minutes each week.

We will finish learning about prepositonal phrases and learn about compound and complex sentences

We will continue our novel My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George

*Students are to read 50 minutes a week. The number of minutes and pages read can be recorded in the assignment book. The week starts on Monday and ends on the following Sunday.  It is their choice how many minutes to read each night, just as long as the total is 50 minutes by the end of the week. We will begin this our first full week of school. 

*Students should play the weekly math game with a parent or older sibling for math homework. If you opted for an alternative method, such as Zearn or paper homework, please ensure your child completes 30 minutes of math work, which is roughly equivalent to the time spent playing the math game.

*Please sign the assignment book daily.

*If you would like to come to lunch, please call the office before noon the day before.  We will only be accepting 7 visitors for each lunch due to space.

*Please send a note if a student brings cough drops to school.

*Please send a note if you know your student will be missing a day of school.
