ELL Newcomer 2 is for English Learners on the beginning levels of English proficiency. This Course focuses on building beginning literacy, social and academic vocabulary development, and building beginning content literacy in English. ELL Newcomer 2 extends the lessons learned in ELL Newcomer 1.

Students will use the four language modalities to communicate about where they live by asking and answering questions and will read and write about a biography and content topics using the grammar and vocabulary in the unit.
Students will use the four language modalities to communicate about their community using prepositions of location and will read and write about communities and content topics using the grammar and vocabulary in the unit.
Students will use the four language modalities to communicate about eating and shopping using foods, clothing, and colors and will read a folktale and write about ordering foods, clothing, and content topics using the grammar and vocabulary in the unit.
Students will use the four language modalities to communicate about health, illness, and safety and will read a play and write using evidence to support a claim and content topics using the grammar and vocabulary in the unit.
