Covid-19 Grading Policy Information

With this being the last week of the semester for students in grades 9-11, I want to make sure everyone is aware of the grading policy.

I have had a lot of questions about what the students/parents are currently seeing in PowerSchool versus what the final grade will be. For this reason, I have included specific examples below the Reference Guide Section on grades.

Reminders:

For Mr. Wiseman's Classes - All classwork is due at midnight on Friday, May 8, unless you have been granted an extension of time by Mr. Wiseman.
This is very important - current PowerSchool grades may not reflect a student's final semester grade.
- Final semester grade will be based on each student's Covid-19 grade.
- Use the reference guide below to help determine possible final semester grade.
At the end of this week, I will go into PowerSchool and do a manual override of any student's grade that is below what the Covid-19 policy stipulates.

REFERENCE GUIDE SECTION ON GRADES

Below is a reference guide to how final semester grades will be determined.

If you had an A at spring break (Covid-19), your final semester grade will be an A or a B. In other words, your grade can go down, but NOT below a B-
If you had a B at spring break, your final semester grade will be an A, B or a C. The lowest grade you could possibly earn is a C-
If you had a C at spring break, your final semester grade will be an A, B or a C. The lowest grade you could possibly earn is a C-
If you had a D at spring break, your final semester grade will be nothing lower than a D-. You will NOT fail.
If you had an F at spring break, your final grade will depend totally on you.
Reminder: While there is a limit or floor on how low a student's grade can drop, student grades can go up more than one grade level, if there are enough points available.

Examples:

If you have a Covid-19 grade of an A, but your current grade in PowerSchool is a C, D, or an F, I will go in on Saturday and manually change your semester grade to a B-
If you have a Covid-19 grade of a B, but your current grade is a D or an F, I will go in on Saturday and manually change your semester grade to a C-
If you have a Covid-19 grade of a C, but your current grade is a D or an F, I will go in on Saturday and manually change your semester grade to a C-
If you have a Covid-19 grade of a D, but your current grade is an F, I will go in on Saturday and manually change your semester grade to a D-

SJSD Distribution of HS Student Belongings & Collection of Materials - May 11 - 15

SJSD families are asked to pick up student belongings during the week of May 11, 2020 at their student’s high school as the schedule below indicates.

If you have children with different last names, please use one student's last name to determine a time to pick up and return items for all children in your home. In order for us to be prepared for you, please arrive during your scheduled time.

If none of these times work for you, please email your child’s principal to request a time on Thursday, May 14th or Friday, May 15th.

Items not picked up by May 30 will be donated. Unless needed for AP or Dual Credit courses, please return Chromebooks and chargers, district-provided hotspots, school owned instruments, library books and textbooks at this time as well.

1:00-2:00 Grade 9-11 students with the last name starting in F and G

2:00-3:00 Grade 9-11 students with the last name starting in H and I

Wednesday, May 13th

11:00-12:00 Grade 9-11 students with the last name starting in J and K

12:00-1:00 Grade 9-11 students with the last name starting in L

1:00-2:00 Grade 9-11 students with the last name starting in M

2:00-3:00 Grade 9-11 students with the last name starting in N, O, and P

Thursday, May 14th
