I was born and raised right here in the north end of St Joe! I graduated from Lafayette and continued on to Northwest Missouri State University (GO BEARCATS) where I earned my B.S. in Secondary Education and Mathematics. Currently I am working on my masters for ESOL education through Northwest as well. So as you can see, I have been and will continue to be green my whole life. I am married to the love of my life, Kelsey, who teaches 8th grade ELA at Robidoux. We are both avid Sporting KC fans, and you will notice this when you walk into my room. I also spend a lot of my time with my two sons, coaching soccer, and volunteering with Young Life.
For some reason many of my students see math as a four letter word by the time they get to high school. Too many times have I heard to question, "When am I going to actually use this in real life?"
Here is my answer!
Mathematics is essentially learning how to think logically and creatively with what you're given. Throughout life we are faced with many problems and situations that require us to form some sort of solution. Knowing what resources you have available and how to use those resources effectively is key to getting ahead in our ever-growing and extremely competitive global economy. We want our students to be prepared and equipped with these critical thinking skills. Just remember,Math is 1% Imagination and 99% perseverance!
