Media Center News

The Arctic Adventure Book Fair was enjoyed by all! Clifford loved seeing many of his book character buddies while visiting the classrooms on Book Character Dress Up Day.

Over $ 600.00 was raised in the All For Books Challenge, providing books for Saint Jude. Scholastic also matches the amount raised and donates that value in books to an underprivileged school. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped this event be such a big success.

National Hispanic Heritage Month

Kindergarten enjoyed combined classes with Spanish and Music as Mrs. Gentile taught Spanish songs the last two weeks in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Today's special song for Blessing of the Pets was La Araña Pequiñita! Of course we all hope that no one has that kind of "pet" at home!

For more fun with Spanish songs, look up Super Simple Espanol online!

Need to Harvest Sugar Cane?

No problem! In music classes Mrs. Lively has been teaching students the Los Machetes Dance for National Hispanic Heritage Month. Combined with rhythm sticks and fun movements, our students are having fun while learning the art of keeping an even tempo!

Apart from this festive Mariachi music and dance, music classes have been discovering various songs and artists from the Hispanic community and their impact on this country!

Dot Day STREAM Activities

To help celebrate International Dot Day, Mrs. Straub read the story the Dot, by Peter H. Reynolds, to the students.

This story served as the springboard for STREAM activities completed by the students during Specials and in the classroom.

See our work in the front hall display case.

Science

4th grade created drawings of their endangered animals and augmented them using Quiver.

Technology

Students used the Quiver App and Augmented Reality to turn 2D drawings into 3D creations!

Religion

3rd Grade made rosary beads to represent their dots. 5th grade used quiver to bring their religious symbols to life.

Engineering

2nd Grade engineered towers with dot candy and tooth picks. They also created ants using recycled materials and strength-tested them to see which ant could hold the most weight.

Art

In Art class, every student painted their dot to "make their mark". The dots became a rainbow backdrop for the display case.

Math

Several grades made arrays with dots. In 2nd grade, students became "human dots" organizing themselves into arrays to represent math facts.
