School Redevelopment Project

Message from our Chairman

48 Wood Road is a familiar address to many of us.

This is from where St. Joseph’s Primary School (SJPS) has been tirelessly nurturing generations of young Josephians for the past 55 years, hoping that it would make a difference in their upbringing and prepare them for bigger challenges in the years ahead. Many of us have personally benefitted from this unique experience or have family members and friends who are part of this Josephian family.

To enable SJPS to continue this mission, we need to upgrade our facilities to meet future educational needs. I am therefore happy to announce that we are proceeding with an ambitious plan to redevelop our premises at Wood Road. The new premises will provide much needed space for more and better academic as well as sporting activities.

Compared with a standard 30-classroom primary school, the usable space at our current campus is about 30% short. That translates into more cramped classrooms, limited space for sports and physical training, and significant constraints to introducing more STEAM learning, etc.

We are very fortunate that the Government has in principle given the green light for the redevelopment project. There are still some hurdles ahead of us, but we are excited that step by step, we are moving towards our goal. Professional consultants have been engaged to help with the detailed design work. Our aim is to get Government funding approval in Q2 of 2025, start the demolition and rebuilding work in Q3 of 2025, and complete the reconstruction in Q2 of 2028 to enable SJPS to commence its 2028/2029 school term at its new premises.

To realize this dream, we need your help in raising funds for facilities and equipment that would not normally be funded by the Government, but are necessary to provide an all-rounded education to our boys. We have set a target of raising $50 million over the next few years. I appeal to you to contribute generously.

May God Bless you and your family.
