Math IXL - St. John’s subscription will be valid until late July/early August, meaning your child’s account will be active during summer.
Xtra math - Xtra math is a website specifically for practicing math facts: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. With an account, your child’s progress is monitored and highlights mastery of facts and areas for growth.
Reading
Readworks - Readworks provides free online nonfiction articles organized by grade level. The website also provides vocabulary work and questions based on the readings.
Many Books - Launched in 2004, ManyBooks aims to create an extensive library of digital books that are available for free on the internet. The site adds new books on a near-daily basis, including an entire section dedicated to kids’ books. The books are available for download in a variety of formats and can also be read on the site itself using ManyBooks’ online e-reader.
Free Children Stories - The founders of Free Children Stories set up the site in 2008 as a way of offering quality storytelling to every child, parent or teacher with internet access. The site has a variety of books for all ages, and even offers audio readings of the books for kids who like having a grown-up read to them.
Read.gov - The Library of Congress has put dozens of classic kids books online for free, including “Anne of Green Gables” and “White Fang.” The ebooks can be read using the Library’s online e-reader, and the e-books themselves are scans of the original books held in the library’s collection.
International Children’s Digital Library - The International Children’s Digital Library was established to provide a collection of digital children’s books from around the world. It contains more than 4,600 books in 59 languages, including Spanish, French, Farsi and even Mongolian.
Barnes & Noble - Barnes & Noble offers the FREE NOOK Reading App for your smartphone or tablet and free e-books.
Amazon - Amazon Prime members can borrow books for free through the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library, which allows users to borrow one book each calendar month. The program offers a wide range of kids’ books to pick from, but you’ll need a Kindle (and a Prime membership) to read them.
Storyline Online - Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Each book includes supplemental curriculum developed by a credentialed elementary educator, aiming to strengthen comprehension and verbal and written skills.

STEM/Science
Scratch Coding - A free online coding website created for kids by MIT. Students can create their own video games and learn the basics behind coding.
NASA Science - Launched in 1998, NASA Space Place's mission is to inspire and enrich upper-elementary-aged kids' learning of space and Earth science online through fun games, hands-on activities, informative articles and engaging short videos.
Ology from the American Museum of Natural History - "ology" means "the study of." This science website for kids offers games and activities in many different areas of science, such as: Marine Biology, Paleontology, biodiversity, physics, and many more!
KiwiCo - KiwiCo is a company that creates and sends STEM building projects to your child. *Requires a paid subscription.
Mystery Science - Mystery Science offers "open-and-go" lessons that inspire students to love science.

TedEd - Browse hundreds of TED-Ed Animations and TED Talks designed to spark your child’s curiosity. You'll also find thousands of other video-based lessons organized by age-level and subject.
