Malcolm forest is home to the exclusive, majestic and critically endangered Crested Serpent Eagle, with only a known population of 2 islandwide. SJI is proud and lucky to have one in its vicinity.

SJI frequently has a flock of Tanimbar Corella visiting the school in the morning. Try to catch their distinctive 'caws!' These birds are nationally endangered but can be seen at the trees outside the school next to the Community Centre
