Teaching Philosophy:
Teaching mathematics is a challenging task. In an engineering classroom, we have different kinds of students who have good, average and poor basics knowledge of mathematics. I strongly believe that the teacher is responsible to inspire, energize, motivate and stimulate the student’s creativity in the classroom. Help the students to master the fundamentals of mathematics which helps them for advanced study in their field. Being a teacher, I need to provide students with knowledge that will enable them to achieve their goals and to meet their challenging academic demands. Help the students to articulate and follow their values, how they can be of service to their community, understand the social responsibilities of their field and social impact of their choices.
I love teaching because I have the passion to see my students progressing and doing well. I desire to see them excelling in their own areas of interest. I desire to see them soaring high in their fields of expertise. Teaching is not only about feeding students with the knowledge, but it is about educating them values, qualities, and characteristics that will carry them through life
The journey of teaching and learning is a continuous and lifelong process. It is not only limited to what we learn in the classroom, but it is beyond that level. I will continue to be working to improve every aspect of my teaching practices, as well as my personal characteristics and philosophies. I will be committing to the research work for my better professional carrier and also become content expertise. Learning more on pedagogy, classroom management, and teamwork will make me more effective in the class.
I believe that technology can help me to overcome several constraints in my class so that I can focus student attention on how and when to use technology appropriately in mathematics class and also giving opportunities for students to apply their knowledge of technology and its uses in learning mathematics. I need them to solve the problem rather than learn to repeat a specific list of procedures given in the class. Technology has become an essential tool for doing mathematics in today’s world. I want to learn maths-related software and online resources to integrate technology into my classrooms to engage students in real-world experiences. Supporting them in making connections both within and outside of mathematics. I have joined IIEECP course and also Designer centric MOOCs NPTEL course to learn how to use technologies in the class. Also, I will try to improve more on all the Seven Qualities of Outstanding Engineering Educators.
