Teaching & Research Philosophy:

Computers are an indispensable part of our lives, shaping virtually everything from the objects around us to the ways in which we communicate, travel, work and play. My fundamental vision is to provide innovative and quality education for the students to achieve excellence in academics which in turn helps them achieve their career goals. A Student is successful if the knowledge imparted in the engineering education and the skills developed by him can be effectively utilised in his life after his education and he should also be able to contribute to the society and the socio-economic development of the country. Computer Science and Engineering students are in high demand as far as industry recruiters are concerned. In recent years, Indian Software Industry has boomed due to rapid increase in globalization consequently requiring more software engineers. The syllabus which we uncover has more of theory concepts. I as a faculty of Computer Science and Engineering feel that the theoretical concepts and practical sessions should go together. Impact of hands-on sessions help to remember and understand the concepts much better. If the curriculum provides only theoretical concepts and no lab programs, I try to provide practical sessions and also attempt to relate the concepts to real-world examples.

Lot of new advancements are being made in the field of information technology every day and every minute. Keeping abreast with the industry advancements and updates is an indispensable requirement to sustain as a faculty in computer science. I will update myself with new content, learn new technological updates I also feel there is a necessity to use new techniques to deliver such technological advancements/content to the students. If I have to be an expert of the content I delivery in any domain, I have to persistently acquaint myself with the latest updates in the field. For every topic I have to search the internet to locate and unearth the latest updates/innovations/improvements so that I can disseminate this information to the students. I will also have to take up online courses and attend conferences/seminars/workshops to enhance my knowledge which will help me personally as well as professionally. Undergoing such development over a period of time will also assist and support in the teaching-learning process.

For some of the advanced courses I encourage the students to write research papers in order to keep them updated in the contemporary areas of computer science. I also try to arrange for guest lectures and invite industry personnel to help the students acquire additional knowledge.

In the current era of internet and multimedia where any and all information is available online at the finger tips, the role of a faculty is reducing and changing from that of a teacher to a facilitator. The facilitator has to update himself with the latest technologies and new content available online. My short term goal is to update myself with the latest innovations on the topic being delivered. Modified teaching-learning techniques have to be learnt and methodically administered in the classroom to suite the requirements of the new generation. My long term goal is to use innovative methods to deliver the curriculum topic/contents highlighting their usage in industry and real-life applications in the classroom.

“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty”, As a teacher, I need to keep myself abreast with the latest technological advancement to update our curriculum. I am also actively involved in research in the area of Process Mining. I guide UG, PG students and research scholars in this area and publish research articles with the findings. I have recently received a grant from AICTE for setting a Center of Excellence in Advanced Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). I would like to update myself in area of Mixed Reality and collaborate to develop inter-disciplinary applications.
