SJCR Scholars Society

Welcome to the SJCR Scholars Society Homepage.

The Scholars’ Society exists to reward enthusiastic learners and promote scholarship within the whole school, contributing to a culture that values intellectual curiosity beyond the classroom.

Scholarships are awarded in Years 5 - 13 in the following categories:

    • Maths Science & Technology
    • English, Humanities & Languages
    • Music
    • Art
    • Drama
    • Sport

All Scholars are invited to join the Scholars Society Google Classroom - where they can keep up to date with scholars events, news and info, stay in touch with one another, and easily share suggestions for things they would like the society to do and events they would like the society to run. If you're a scholar and you can't get into the classroom, please email Mrs Bouwer.

Scholars Lunch

On Tuesday 1 Feb the Scholars and Postelars enjoyed a fantastic lunch in celebration of all their achievements, and enjoyed an interesting talk by guest speaker Dr Suzie Imber.

Suzie is an associate professor of Planetary Science at the University of Leicester. She has worked at NASA, and is currently involved in a project for ESA’s next mission to Mercury. Suzie is also an elite rower and a highly-experienced mountaineer. She has written computer code to identify and map unclimbed peaks in the Andes and Himalayas before setting off to climb them herself. Suzie has been interested in space from a young age, and has spent her academic career looking at our solar system – her current research looks at "Space Weather".

Suzie spoke about the need to challenge ourselves, to try and do things we think we're not good at and get better at them, and reminded us that with commitment and hard work you can reach the stars - sometimes quite literally.
