SJB Music Club offerings- 2023/2024

Dear parents,

I hope that you and your students had a great summer and a successful back to school season so far! Many music clubs have already begun, others will be beginning soon. Here are the music club offerings, some information, and the schedule. Please speak with your student and email me with any clubs they would like to join:

Music Tech Club (6-8)- Friday, 12:00, Sept.-Dec.: Students begin learning to use the church sound board, set up and level microphones, and learn to compose and arrange using loops and the program “Bandlab”.

Psalm Club (4-8)- Friday, 11:30, all year: Students will practice singing solo or in groups of 2 or 3 with a microphone. Songs will include Psalms for Mass and solos for

Boys and Girls Choir. Recommended for students looking to be challenged in their singing!

Mass Choir (2-8)- Monday, 12:00, all year: Students practice and perform songs at School Mass. Students are asked to attend all practices if they wish to sing at Mass. There are a few evening Masses in the spring that are optional, but encouraged. Grade 4-8 students will eat lunch at 11:30 in the Parish Hall.

Concert Choir (3-8)- Day 2, Period 4, all year: Students will learn and perform non-liturgical songs for special events such as Remembrance Day, Christmas Concert, Spring Celebration and more. Students will be expected to catch up on any work that is missed during this class time.

Christmas Recorder Club (5-8)- Wednesday, 11:30, mid Oct-Dec.: Students wishing to play more challenging recorder music are invited to join this club. We will choose and practice 2-3 Christmas songs for recorder choir and possibly other instruments (percussion/xylophone).

Advanced and Intermediate Violin (4-8)- Information will be sent to all violin students in a separate email.

Beginner Guitar (4-8), Advanced Guitar (5-8), and Songwriting (5-8) clubs will all begin in January. I will send an email with more information regarding these clubs later in the year, including information on how to sign up.

We will also be participating in the Santa Claus Parade again this year! A Permission Click will be sent out in October with more information on how to be in the choir, hand out candy as an angel or shepherd, or one of the other roles for the parade.
