The 5th grade class tries to build a strong bridge. Students were placed into groups and were assigned to build either a beam bridge, a truss bridge, or a suspension bridge using drinking straws, tape, and some sticks. They tested the strength of their bridges using pennies. In the process, they had to weigh the penny and the container used to hold the pennies on the bridge. They then had to calculate the total weight in grams.
