Happy New Year!!!!!!

In Math this week, we will review  chapter 9,  unit fractions.  We will have a quiz on Wednesday (not a test as the quiz will count no more than 20 points).  

We will then begin  chapter 7 (division).  Division is a breeze once the multiplication facts are mastered.  So, please continue to help your child master the multiplication tables at home.    We will work on mastering them the rest of the year if we need to do so.

In CKLA, we will  have our Unit 5, List 1 spelling test on Friday.  Please note, this date is subject to change if necessary.  The short week might make it difficult, but as the words went home before Christmas break, we might be ready by Friday.  

I have missed your children, and I am excited to begin 2nd semester with them!

Report cards go home this week, along with the results of their DIBELS reading assessments.

Our next math test (Chapter 5) will be Monday, 11/10/2025.

Our next spelling test, Unit 4, List 1, is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, 2025

Spelling words for Unit 4, List 1 will be in the purple folders today.

They are not yet posted on our website.

Chapter 4 Math test will be Thursday, 10/23/25.  Wednesday will be an in-class test review.  

In CKLA, we will have a Unit 3, Lists 2 spelling test on Friday, 10/24/2025.

*If you want to keep the pumpkin your child decorated for Pumpkin Shine on Line, you must pick it up before 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Betty Virginia Park.  (You can also pick it up on Tuesday evening at the park during Pumpkin Shine.)  I must say, the children made some adorable animals with their pumpkins!

Note:  We have many people who are driving on the field trip.  Most cars will only have one child in them.

We will have a Chapter 2 Math test on Wednesday.  Monday will be a review  day.  A study guide/practice test is linked above in  "important dates."  In addition, I will send home a card copy in the purple folders tomorrow (Thursday).

We begin CKLA Unit 2 tomorrow (Thursday).  If you would like a copy of our reader for home use, you can download it from above.  

You will receive a field trip permission form.

We had a wonderful first day of third grade !!

Welcome to 2025-2026 school year! I am excited and very honored to be your child's teacher this year!

At Back to School  Night on Wednesday, we will go over the packet of handouts that are on your child's desk.

Third grade is a pivotal year in the school life of your children.  There are greater expectations for independence.  Your child transitions from learning to read to reading to learn.  We begin mastering our multiplication and division facts.  We begin learning to write in cursive--and so much more!
