About Our Kindergarten Class
Welcome to a brand-new school year! I’m so excited to have your child in my class and to begin this amazing journey of learning, discovery, and fun together. Kindergarten is a special time full of wonder, creativity, and growth. In our classroom, we will explore letters and numbers, make new friends, ask big questions, and build the foundation for a lifelong love of learning—all in a safe, caring, and joyful environment.
I look forward to partnering with you to make this a fantastic year for your child. Let’s work together to help them shine!
Here’s to a wonderful year ahead in Mrs. Huneke’s class!
What We Do Each Week in Kindergarten
Each week in kindergarten, students will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities, such as:
Daily Prayer and Religion Lessons – Learning about God's love, Bible stories, and Catholic values through songs, storytelling, and hands-on
activities.
Literacy Activities – Exploring letters, sounds, and early reading skills through phonics, read-alouds, and storytelling.
Math Exploration – Engaging with numbers, patterns, and simple problem-solving using games, manipulatives, and real-life situations.
Creative Arts – Expressing themselves through drawing, painting, music, and crafts that reflect both the liturgical seasons and their own
creativity.
Science and Discovery – Observing God’s creation through nature walks, simple experiments, and seasonal themes.
Social and Emotional Learning – Practicing kindness, sharing, and cooperation while developing friendships and communication skills.
Physical Movement – Building strength, coordination, and healthy habits through outdoor play, movement games, and physical education.
Centers and Free Play – Encouraging imagination, independence, and problem-solving in structured learning centers and unstructured playtime.
