"It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings."

I am in my 11th year of teaching as Reading Specialist K-2 at Siuslaw Elementary. I have continued my education while teaching, to stay current with new strategies, research, and techniques. I enjoy working with children and diagnosing their reading weaknesses, then prescribing the right fix applied in a holistic and multi-sensory style. I use Dianne Craft exercises to help students cross the midline and be ready for instruction along with the Orton Gillingham multisensory strategies to connect learning to the brain. I believe in a trauma-informed approach to teaching and communicating with students and families. I advocate for Trauma Informed knowledge for all people.

Below is a true copy of one reading assessment worksheet I created for five small groups of students working on many of the same basic reading skills.
