Houston based artist Eric Zhang is trained in the style of 19th century French Academic tradition as well as the philosophy of American Impressionism. Through portrait and still life subjects, he aims to bring forth a quiet, contemplative truth to his observations. In his recent works, Eric draws inspiration from Orientalist art and forges a reinterpretation of his cultural roots through more western visual vocabulary and methodologies.
