Swing Choir

Hi there 7th & 8th Grade Music Students,

Would you enjoy performing a variety of music including pop, jazz, & musical theater?

Would you like to be part of a fun extracurricular choir with other hard-working performers?

When will we rehearse?

Rehearsals will be Mondays before school from 7:50-8:30am and Thursdays after school from 3:55-4:30pm.  I do expect consistent attendance at all rehearsals, and members are responsible for knowing and memorizing their music.

What is the Attendance policy?

Since our rehearsal time together is so brief, consistent attendance at all rehearsals is expected and vital for our ensemble—we do a LOT in a very short amount of time!  Please try to avoid scheduling appointments during Swing Choir.  In the event of a conflict, illness, or athletic event please communicate with Mr. Kistner ASAP so we are all on the same page.  Excessive absences may be cause for removal from the group, so make sure to communicate in advance if issues arise. 

When do we perform?

We will perform at the 5th & 8th Grade Winter Concert (Dec. 17) and 6th & 7th Grade Winter Concert (Dec. 18); the National Anthem for Boy's Basketball (Dec. 19); and the 7th/8th Grade Spring Choir Concert (May 20).   We also will be performing for ISSMA Show Choir festival (a judged event) on Saturday, March 8.  We may add one or two additional performances at various community and school functions as opportunities present themselves.

What does it cost?

The Swing Choir fee is $70 non-refundable made payable to ZWMS.  This fee offsets the costs of costumes, sheet music, choreographer, and entry fees.  It would be due on the date of the first rehearsal.  If there is an issue with financial hardship, please let me know so that we can work out alternate arrangements--no child will be turned away for financial reasons.

Auditions will be on Wednesday September 4 and Thursday September 5 before school in the choir room starting at 7:50 AM.  You only need to come to ONE of these two dates.
