Dr. Tadjoeddin is Associate Professor in Development Studies at Western Sydney University (WSU). Was the Director of Academic Program, Humanitarian and Development Studies at WSU. Had visiting research appointments at the Queen Elizabeth House (QEH) of the University of Oxford (UK), and at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam (The Netherlands). Was a Technical Advisor on decentralization and conflict at the United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP) in Indonesia, and a Researcher at the UN Support Facility for Indonesian Recovery (UNSFIR) and World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF).
His areas of research include political economy of conflict, conflict and development, employment and human development. He has published three books with Palgrave Macmillan (Structural Transformation as Development, 2025; Employment and Reindustrialisation, 2018; and Explaining Collective Violence, 2014). His articles have appeared in leading academic journals, such as Journal of Development Studies, Journal of Peace Research, Oxford Development Studies, Journal of East Asian Studies, Journal of International Development, Civil Wars, Economics of Peace and Security Journal, Economic and Labour Relations Review, and Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy.
Has consulted for Asian Development Bank and various UN agencies such as FAO, ILO, UNDP, UN ESCAP, UNICEF and UN-OHRLLS. His expert commentaries have been cited by media outlets such as The Economist, The Diplomat, World Finance, and ABC News.
