My name is ZIJIAN YANG (Google scholar, LinkedIn)
I am a postdoctoral scholar in Stanford University (from 2022/01). Before that, I am a PhD student major in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics in University of Pennsylvania.
I have long term interest in combining advanced science and engineering to provide next generation healthcare system. To reach that goal, I have developed machine learning based diagnosis model on the software end, which paired well with my hardware end work including wearable/flexible electronics and microelectronic/microfludic platforms.

2025/07/14 ZJ's postdoc work on boosting FACS-based screening was published on Analytical Chemistry!
2025/03/12 ZJ's paper on Screening Reactions in Biphasic Environments was selected as Editor's Choice on Adv. Mat. Inter.
2024/07/29 The LAST piece of my PhD research got published on BMC Biology. I have been working on this project since 2017 Fall.
2024/06/13 The descendants of ZJ's DEVA has been published on Lab on a Chip and was selected as HOT!!!
2023/10/08 My son Luke is born on his due date!!! The most exciting and rewarding thing that ever happened in my life. Thank you Luping and Luke for coming to my life.
2022/09/23 It is a great honor for me to receive the Baxter Young Investigator Award (17 nationwide) !!!
2022/06/01 My view on how µfluidics would improve the clinical applications has been published on Lab on Chip finally!
2022/05/19 ZJ's project DEVA has been published on Nano Letter!!! 2 out of 3 my PhD research directions got published. Stay tuned!
2022/04/04 ZJ has been selected to receive the 2022 Sanjiv Sam Gambhir-Philips Fellowship from Stanford Medicine!!!!
2021/01/03 Officially start my Postdoctoral Scholar position in the Soh lab of Stanford, CA.
2021/11/19 Successfully defended my thesis!!!!!!
2021/09/10 ZJ's project DEVA was awarded a Penn Health Tech Pioneer award for $50,000 seed grant.
2021/06/30 ZJ's project DEVA made the final list of 6 (out of 108) in the 2021 Bell Labs Prize.
2021/06/03 ZJ accepted a postdoc offer from Prof. Tom Soh's lab in Stanford University. See ya in Palo Alto in 2022!
2021/05/25 ZJ get married with Luping on 6-year-anniversary!!! The best thing that happened in my life in UIUC and Penn!
