PPTH759 Host-Parasite Genetics (3 credits) (2020- )
The Host-Parasite Genetics course covers classical, cellular, and molecular genetics of plant resistance and pathogen pathogenicity, gene-for-gene relationships between hosts and parasites involved in pathogenesis, genetic alterations that leads to functional polymorphism and redirected cellular activity in plants and their corresponding pathogen via interactions of effector ligands and receptors, and the downstream signaling components resulting in compatible and incompatible interactions.
PPTH760 Advanced Mycology (4 credits) (2007-2019)
The “Advanced Mycology” course is designed for graduate students who have basic knowledge about fungal biology and want to learn more about taxonomy, systematics, evolution, and ecology of the fungi. Modern principles and methods on phylogeny, classification and nomenclature, species concepts, sexual compatibility and vegetative compatibility will be covered. Lab exercises will focus on identification of various fungi using classical and modern systems and development of skills for mycology studies.
