Welcome to my site!

I am Yi Zhang, a wireless system engineer at Apple in Bay Area. 

I received my Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2021. My dissertation supervisors are Prof. Robert Heath and Prof. Sanjay Shakkottai. The title of my Ph.D. dissertation is "Intelligent Millimeter-wave Link Configuration and Deep Learning-Based Receiver Design".

My research interest focuses on wireless PHY/MAC design, WLAN/Cellular, signal processing, deep learning, and reinforcement learning (DRL and bandit).

[07/26/2021] Our paper "MmWave Codebook Selection in Rapidly-Varying Channels via Multinomial Thompson Sampling" was recognized as the Best Paper Award Runners-Up at ACM MobiHoc 2021. [WNCG NEWS]

[04/04/2021] Our paper "DeepWiPHY: Deep learning-based receiver design and dataset for IEEE 802.11ax systems" was highlighted in the "Cisco: Telemetry and AI/ML-Driven Wireless Advances" from Cisco Blogs.

[07/02/2019] Our paper "Side-information-aided Non-coherent Beam Alignment Design for Millimeter Wave Systems." was recognized as the Best Paper Award Finalists at ACM MobiHoc 2019
