The 20-year-old male victim was transported to USC Medical Center but later died of his wounds. The suspect, also male, was in his late teens.
The two were involved in a verbal dispute, and at some point the suspect shot the victim and left the scene in a dark vehicle, Aguilar said.
Police believe the shooting was potentially gang-related, Aguilar said.
Investigators were still at the crime scene several hours later.
