Looping is also a world-wide primitive technique, much older than weaving innovation. It makes looped stitches in horizontal way, using a sewing needle with yarn. There are a lot of variations and varied combinations. We can still find pretty bags and caps in different looping techniques made by vegetable fiber.
In the ancient South America, they made beautiful, colorful fragments in looping. The picture shows a part of border fragment of Large Garment in the period of Nazca-Ica Period. It seems like knitting stitches, but the manipulation is quite different and always produced in tubal form.
