Biography
Yuehua Tang is a Full Professor and the Scott J. Friedman Professor of AI in Finance, and serves as Chair of the Eugene F. Brigham Finance, Insurance and Real Estate Department at the Warrington College of Business, University of Florida. His research interests include AI in finance, fintech, mutual funds and hedge funds, climate finance, investments, and corporate finance. He has published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Management Science, and Review of Asset Pricing Studies. He previously served as the Finance Ph.D. Coordinator from January 2020 to August 2026.
His work has received many research excellence awards, including the Q-Group Research Award, the Chicago Quantitative Alliance (CQA) Best Paper Award (three times), the AMTD FinTech Centre Prize, the BlackRock Best Paper Award (AFBC Sydney), the Yihong Xia Best Paper Award (CICF), and the GARP Research Excellence Award. He currently serves as a Guest Associate Editor for Management Science (Special Issue on AI) and an Associate Editor for the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Economics and Finance, the Journal of Alternative Investments, and the Asia-Pacific Journal of Financial Studies. His research has been featured in major media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Bloomberg News, Forbes, CNBC, Yahoo Finance, Fortune, and The New York Times.
Before joining the University of Florida in August 2016, he was an Assistant Professor at Singapore Management University for three years. He was a visiting Assistant Professor at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School in Fall 2014. Professor Tang received his Ph.D. in Finance from Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business in 2013.
