METALMARKS

(family Riodinidae)  This as another large family of tropical butterflies with al least 33 species 

Red-bordered Pixie p. 59  uncommon

This spectacular butterfly often lands on the underside of leaves, like most moths.

Purple-washed Eyemark, Mesosemia lamachus,  p. 58  uncommon, often openings in jungle

SCINTILLANTS and allies-  On page 65, Glassberg reports a "very confused state of scinillant taxonomy in Mexico" with at least 27 species.  Scintillants are common in most habitatats-

 Fatal Metalmark  p. 64  fairly common

Rounded Metalmark, Calephelis perditales or similar p. 64, common-

Gulf Scintillant  or similar p. 64, uncommon-

Cloaked Scintllant, p. 65, Detritivora barnesi,  common-

Unidentified tiny metalmark  Photographed Cozumel. Flies fast, distinctive shape.

I'll tentatively call it Tiny Cozumel Metalmark.

Red-bordered Metalmark, Cario ino  p. 66  uncommon,  Compare to south Texas form.

Blue Metalmark, Lasala sula  p.69-  This beautiful creature not yet seen in Yucatan.  Photo is from LRGV, Texas.  Female has similar markings, but much less or no blue color.
