Welcome to my website!
I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Economics, University College Dublin, Ireland.
Prior to my post in UCD I was a lecturer in the Adam Smith Business School, and a post-doctoral fellow in Economics in the ESRI (Ireland).
My research interests are in the fields of Fiscal Policy, Taxation and Inequality, Macroeconomics and Banking, Philosophy of Economics and Methodology of Science.
I completed my PhD in Economics in Athens University of Economics and Business (Greece). During my PhD I was working on DSGE models with different assumptions for the depreciation function to better understand investment and capital utilization and maintenance decisions. At the same time I was working on the empirical literature of banking and in particular the economic effects of macro-prudential policy and banking regulation. My research up to now has been published in the Journal of Banking and Finance, and in the Journal of International Money and Finance.
Nowadays, my aspiration is to be able to use micro-economic data to understand macro questions involving the effects of taxation and other macroeconomic policies on the decisions and the wealth of households or firms. As a more general interest, I would like to combine economics with other disciplines such as anthropology, physics/cosmology, and philosophy in an attempt to proceed to a holistic approach of studying economics.
Since 2013 I am a member of the Laboratory of Thought in Athens.
