Yota D. Deli
Γιώτα Ντελή
I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Economics, University College Dublin, Ireland.
Yota is an Assistant Professor of Economics at University College Dublin (UCD). She is a founding member of the Irish Society of Women in Economics (ISWE), where she served as Events Lead before going on maternity leave. Yota also chaired the Athena Swan committee, which was awarded the Bronze Medal for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in 2024 for the UCD School of Economics. Since 2013, she has been a member of the Laboratory of Thought in Athens.
Her research interests span Economic Policy and Inequality, Financial Macroeconomics and Banking, as well as the Philosophy of Economics and Methodology of Science. Specifically, her current work blends economic theory with practical issues in taxation, fiscal policy, inequality, and financial regulation, with a particular focus on emerging technologies and global economic transformations.
Nowadays, her aspirations are threefold:
a) to use microeconomic and macroeconomic data and theories to address macroeconomic questions, particularly the effects of taxation and other economic policies on household and firm decisions and their subsequent impact on wealth and economic inequality;
b) to transform public perceptions of economics and its teaching by examining issues related to the methodology of science and gender perceptions;
c) more broadly, to deepen the understanding of the methodology of economic science and contribute to an interdisciplinary approach to comprehending the economy and the overall tax framework.
