My research spans theoretical physics and theoretical chemistry, with a particular focus on the first-principles description of excited-state and nonequilibrium quantum dynamics in materials and molecular systems.
A particularly formative stage of my research career was my postdoctoral work at the Max Planck Institute in Germany, where I joined the group of Prof. E. K. U. Gross, who played a leading role in the foundation of time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) and has driven its subsequent theoretical development. Under the direct supervision of Prof. Gross, and through close day-to-day scientific discussions with him, I developed a rigorous foundation in TDDFT, Exact Factorization, quantum many-body theory, and condensed-matter physics, ranging from their fundamental theoretical principles to first-principles applications to realistic materials and molecular systems. I also worked on the further development and application of these theoretical frameworks. This experience established the theoretical and computational foundation for my subsequent research in TDDFT and quantum dynamics.
More recently, I have been exploring the integration of data-driven approaches with quantum-dynamics theory, including the development of machine-learning exchange-correlation potentials for TDDFT.
After completing my doctoral studies at the University of Tokyo and serving as a JSPS Research Fellow (DC1), I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). I subsequently served as an Assistant Professor and Junior Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Tokyo University of Science, where I was engaged in both research and education. Since 2020, I have been teaching physics at Seiko Gakuin Junior and Senior High School while continuing my research in theoretical physics and theoretical chemistry.
Alongside my research, I have extensive teaching experience in physics and mathematics from secondary-school to graduate level.
