Camping is a very important part of being a cub. It allows children to experience the outdoor life in a safe yet adventurous environment.
Our cub pack offers the opportunity for young people to camp at least twice a year, sometimes more. Our main camp each year is usually near the start of the summer holidays, when we camp for 5 nights under canvas, using either the traditional green patrol tents or our newer 4-man nylon tents. We also try to offer a Group Camp, where Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers join together for a weekend of fun and laughter camping at our own HQ.

Summer Camp - Yapton HQ - Sat 27 July - Thur 1 Aug
We camped at home in what was probably the worst weather last summer, after the amazing heat wave we had rain and a lot of wind, so much that it actually uprooted and overturned one of our tents and pulled all the pegs from one side of the marquee. We still had a great camp and visited the Otter and Owl Sanctuary in Southampton, which was a great day out.

JOTT Night Hike & Camp
JOTT or Jamboree on the Trail to give it the full name is a day when Scouts all over the world take part in hikes in their local area. This year we decided to make it more of an adventure, so walked in the dark then stayed overhight at the hall. Scouts camped under canvas, Cubs used the hall and the Beavers joined us for a cooked breakfast and then did their own daylight walk.
Animal Camp - Yapton
This year we made use of our own facilities, with a crafts camp based on animals, where we worked on Naturalist and Animal Carer Badges. We had a super day out at Marwell Zoo and enjoyed archery, ropemaking, woggle making, plaster of paris, branding and plenty of other crafts. We had one rainy day, but the rest of the time the weather was kind, it was even hot enough for a waterfight.
