Yachang Zeng is an Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), holding a Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance from Lancaster University. Prior to joining NTU, she served as an Assistant Professor at Tilburg University in the Netherlands. Additionally, she was a research member of the INTACCT network, which promotes a scientific research program related to IFRS in Europe. Before transitioning to academia, she worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in China.
Yachang specializes in integrating interdisciplinary theories to investigate key topics at the intersection of accounting, focusing on financial reporting quality, the role of financial intermediaries, and behavioral influences in capital markets. Her research is particularly concerned with how individual traits impact corporate decision-making. By incorporating concepts and approaches from neuroscience, psychology, linguistics, and computer science, she addresses complex issues in accounting, financial reporting, and behavioral finance. This interdisciplinary approach has led to novel insights in both academic theory and practical applications, especially in the areas of executive behavior, financial misreporting, and the role of intermediaries in corporate decision-making.
Her approach has expanded the boundaries of traditional accounting research, requiring the exploration of unfamiliar areas, the integration of diverse literature, the collection of novel data, and the development of new methodologies to measure phenomena that are traditionally considered unmeasurable. Her passion for multidisciplinary research stems from the belief that solutions to complex problems often require insights from multiple disciplines. By combining ideas and techniques from various fields, she has advanced knowledge not only in accounting but also in broader domains of study.
Her work has been published (and accepted) in leading journals, including the Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, and Management Science. She also serves on the editorial board of Accounting and Business Research.
Outside of her academic pursuits, Yachang enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, and cycling.
