Xzottic Arachnid Rescue is a non-profit organization. It has been run by a single person, Kristen Gregory, for over 15 years and is now part of Almosta Farm in Borden Indiana. With over fifteen years of experience with tarantulas, she has decided to dedicate her life to these creatures in which most people despise. The rescue is very knowledgeable and continues to learn about the species on a daily basis. In our home, we use only 100% coco fiber substrate. We provide cork bark hides and fake plants for each tarantula, give fresh water on a daily basis and feed dubia cockroaches, meal worms, crickets and your occasional pinky mouse. Each arachnid is housed separately and given individual attention according to its specific needs.

We rescue tarantulas and scorpions from situations in which they are no longer wanted or can no longer be properly cared for. We will drive up to 150 miles to pick up an unwanted arachnid from a surrenderer and we offer our pick up/rescue services at no charge and with no questions asked. On certain occasions, especially when we begin to get overcrowded, we will place tarantulas and scorpions up for adoption. We offer the tarantulas and scorpions at a very affordable price, and we include all the necessary supplies that the arachnids may need.

We do what we do for the same reasons people run dog and cat rescues. People end up with arachnids that they can no longer care for quite frequently, and because we would NEVER want anyone to give a tarantula or scorpion to someone who was not knowledgeable of them, and also because we would NEVER want to see one set loose in the wild, we offer you the opportunity to give your unwanted arachnid to us where we will care for it properly for the rest of its life. We simply do what we do because we love the species and care very much for their well being.

I obtained my first tarantula about 15 years ago and within the first 3 years I had accumulated a total of 6. Not long after, I then realized that the number of unwanted arachnids was much higher than most people think. I decided to start advertising that I would take in unwanted arachnids in 2000 and have rescued over 40 tarantulas since. I just recently decided to add scorpions to the rescue as well.
