Chu WEI | 魏楚

Welcome to my homepage.

I am a Professor of economics at Renmin University. I received my B.S. in management science from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2000, a Ph.D. in economics from Zhejiang University in 2009. I had intensive aboard visiting experience including Toulouse School of Economics as a CSC's joint-training Ph.D. student (2007-2008), University of Nebraska at Omaha as a CSC's visiting scholar (2009-2010) , the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) as a Alexander von Humboldt fellow (2010-2011), University of Sherbrooke as a visiting professor by Sino-Canada joint program (2015-2016), and University of Munster as a visiting professor. I joined the Department of Energy Economics at Renmin University in 2012.

My research focuses on energy economics, environmental economics and applied econometrics. I had worked extensively on the analysis of energy efficiency and evaluation of marginal abatement cost of pollutants. I am currently focused on the residential energy demand in China. This work includes a national-wide household survey and several pilot intervention experiments to identify the policy instruments for residential energy management. My research has appeared in the PNAS, Nature Energy, Environmental and Resource Economics, China Economic Review, Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Water Policy and other academic journals. Dr. Chu WEI served as PI for the National Science Foundation and National Social Science Foundation. He is the recipient of the 2009 Gregory Chow Best Paper awarded by the Chinese Economist Society, the 2015 Distinguished Research Prize awarded by the Ministry of Education and the 2016 Excellent Youth Scholars Grant supported by the National Science Foundation.

魏楚，中国人民大学经济学院教授，国家发展与战略研究院研究员，经济学博士，德国洪堡学者，国家优秀青年基金获得者，中国人民大学“杰出学者特聘教授”。研究领域涉及能源效率分析、 减排成本评估、能源需求管理等。魏楚于2003年进入浙江理工大学从事教学科研工作。2006年进入浙江大学攻读博士学位，2009年获经济学博士学位；其中，2007-2008年受国家留学基金委资助，赴 法国图卢兹经济学院进行联合培养。2010-2011年受德国洪堡基金会首批“国际气候保护”项目资助，赴欧洲经济研究中心从事能源系统建模研究；2012年调入中国人民大学，2014年起任经济学院能源 经济系副主任、国家发展与战略研究院“能源与资源战略中心”副主任，2019年起任应用经济学院副院长。

魏楚先后主持了国家及省部级科研项目14项，全国性大型综合调查7项；出版著作18部，在PNAS、Nature Energy、《中国社会科学》、《管理世界》等发表论文98多篇。研究成果被IPCC第五次评估报告、Nature Climate Change等多次引用。研究成果曾获得“邹至庄最佳经济学论文奖”及五次省部级 科研奖励；撰写的智库成果被党和国家多个部门采纳应用。
