Welcome!

I think it is important that you know who teaches you. Big picture - I have a Bachelors Degree in biology and secondary education, a Masters Degree in Biology with a specialization in Human Anatomical Sciences and earned National Board Certification. I have been employed by District 204 for the past 26 years in addition to teaching as an adjunct professor at local community colleges. Below is a snapshot of my teaching history:

        - I graduated from Augustana College in 1991 with a Bachelors Degree in biology and secondary education.  After working at the Chicago Medical School researching Parkinson Disease, I began working in the public school system.

        - After a few years of teaching in rural Illinois, I was hired by the district in 1997. I have taught at Waubonsie Valley (both the Gold and Green buildings) as well as Neuqua Valley at the Frontier Campus in addition to coaching Bowling, Softball, Volleyball and the Scholastic Bowl in addition to sponsoring the Aspiring Medical Professionals after school club and the Christian Student Association.

        - In 2001, I was granted a one-year leave of absence to pursue my education at Northern Illinois University, was awarded a Masters Degree in Biology with a specialization in Human Anatomical Sciences and returned to teach in the district the following year. I have been an adjunct professor at Waubonsee Community College, Joliet Junior College and currently the College of DuPage.

        - I completed the required assessments from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards to earn National Board Certification in Science in 2009.

          - In SY2014-15, I took another one-year leave of absence for mission work in the Philippines where I taught Biology, Anatomy and Physiology as well as Medical Science in South East Asia.

- In 2022, I published my first book. This story was written for my youngest daughter while we were in the Philippines. It only took me seven years to complete the illustrations and could not have been completed without the contributions of my eldest daughter and editing by my wife :)

        - On a personal note, my wife and I have been married for 24 years and the girls are 20 and 18.

I truly look forward to the upcoming year.
