Research
My current research projects include climate resilience and food and water security among smallholder farmers in Latin America; housing policies in Silicon Valley; and racial disparities in the criminal justice system. Past and ongoing research interests include the historical development of U.S. labor market institutions, the evolution of race and gender differences in U.S. labor markets, the causes and effects of public libraries and related institutions in U.S. economic history, fertility decline, and poverty and inequality trends.
