The Women’s Social Club of Kent (WSCoK) was established in February of 1951. It consists of African American Women who reside primarily in Kent, Ohio. The focus of the organization ranges from social support in the minority community to the encouragement of African American high school students to pursue higher education.
The support of the pursuit of higher education has been a staple of the club since its existence.
The WSCoK has hosted many fundraising events over the years, such as: Left, Right Center game nights, Christmas parties, Fashion Shows and Muffins with Mom. The events are always well attended, fun and full of community support.
Annually the Women’s Social Club of Kent awards at least one scholarship to a deserving Theodore Roosevelt High School student. The partnership with the high school has been long standing and truly benefits students.
