Work with Students Individually or in Small Groups
This is where we need the most help. We need parents to help guide students as they work to complete the requirements on their sign-off sheet. Chess experience is helpful, but not necessary! There are guide booklets for each level that teach everything you need to know. Parents unfamiliar with chess will want to start at the beginner level and work their way up. Get started by becoming familiar with the guidebook for the level you’re helping with. It has more detailed instructions. Feel free to start by just helping your own child. You can then help others are you become more comfortable.
Help at the Front Table
We need one to three volunteers to run the front table. This job involves administrative tasks such as helping students find their sign-off sheet, processing completed sign-off sheets, and helping to correct worksheets when needed. There are detailed instructions at the front table. Volunteers at the front table can work as a team or divide up the responsibilities – just be sure to communicate.
