Welcome to the Orchestra Leadership Team!
OLT
The OLT team collaborates with boosters, fellow team members, and the director to support and enhance the school environment. While the primary focus is on activities within the school, the team's responsibilities extend beyond its walls. They actively participate in school events such as Heyday and Cav Kickoff, and play a key role in maintaining a clean and welcoming atmosphere in the school. Additionally, the team provides decorative materials, including flyers for concerts, to promote school spirit. Ultimately, the team's mission is to assist the director and foster a vibrant, engaging environment for students.
President
The President serves as the face of the orchestra leadership team, speaking at events such as Orch-ientation
Work closely with the Boosters to help plan fundraising events
Responsible for planning and leading OLT meetings, working closely with Ms. Wilcox to maintain smooth operations both in and out of the classroom
Vice President
The Vice President supports the President in their duties and fills in for them in the event that they are unavailable
Takes notes at all meetings/events
Responsible for maintaining the OLT schoology group, keeping track of the points system for academic letters and pins, and updating the orchestra department website
Supplies Team
Members of the Supplies team ensure that the orchestra room stays organized
In charge of the music library, instrument inventory, and the shed
Work with Ms. Wilcox to process forms and set up for performances as well as assist in luggage checks and loading buses for trips
Events Team
Plan and run orchestra events such as Hey Day, concert activities, big fundraisers, and outreach operations
They work with Team Leads and the Director to set up dates and coordinate the venues and supplies needed to run the events
Members are expected to attend at least two large fundraising events, such as car washes, Hey Day, and Tag Day
The Events team also plans in-class fundraisers and helps run events such as Orchientation and the Senior/End of Year Banquet
Design Team
Responsible for creating flyers, slideshows, or media to advertise for concerts, fundraisers, or any other orchestra event
Manage the social media accounts (Instagram) and are responsible for taking pictures at orchestra events
Applications
While all Woodson Orchestra members are welcome to help out with OLT activities, applications for official positions are conducted at the end of each school year, and teams are finalized before the following school year begins. Applications are conducted through an initial Google Form round, from which interviewees are selected for further consideration. All members of the Orchestra Leadership Team are expected to attend monthly meetings and regularly communicate with their team to accomplish tasks. Students who missed the application deadline or were not selected for a position may still help out with Leadership activities and may be added to the OLT during the school year at the discretion of the Team Leads.
