Minor Soccer
UNIFORMS & EQUIPMENT
All players are expected to have shin pads, black shorts and socks, and cleats (or athletic shoes for U6, U8 age groups). Please dress for the weather. In the last few years WMSA has been approached by a few individuals requesting we go back to the old method of collecting jerseys at the end of the soccer season and reusing them in seasons to come.
We do live in a recyclable world and if at all possible we should be reusing the jerseys. This is also a more responsible way of using any funds charged at registration. ALL uniforms will be now collected.
The collection of jerseys does require a lot of manpower and parent representatives are needed to help coaches collect jerseys from parents and reminding them to first wash jerseys. If there is ever a question about uniforms please let Deb know.
We try to keep our fields in pristine conditions with all lines clearly marked. The nets should be tied down with no holes. If there are any questions/comments about WMSA equipment please let Fred know.
For insurance reasons and because soccer can involve incidental body contact, the following regulations are in place for the safety of all players. Players not abiding by these regulations may be asked to leave the field.
Mandatory shin pads
Appropriate athletic footwear (cleats are recommended - NOT USING METAL CLEATS!)
PLAYERS
Players are expected to learn the game of soccer in the most enjoyable, safe manner possible. Be aware of the physical and medical limitations of both your teammates and yourself. As a player you are to model a fair, positive attitude along with good sportsmanship. Never use negative or abusive language with other players, officials, parents or coaches. Understand that any calls made during the game are final! Be on time for practice and try to work on weaker skills.
PARENTS
Try to model positive attitudes and good sportsmanship within the players. Always support your players without impeding the rights of other players, parents, officials or volunteers. Strive to learn more about the game and understand that all call made during the game are final. Never use negative or abusive language with any member of WMSA, or parent. If you have any questions/comments please contact WMSA by phone or email. If you want to get involved teams are always looking for parent reps and new volunteers are always welcomed.
