The End of the Story

The story has a strange ending. Even though none of the passengers' personal belongings were destroyed, after being towed back to Tahiti the ship was declared a total loss. Apparently because the fire burned most of the electronics on the bridge which was more expensive to replace than the ship was worth.

So just over a month after the fire, Windsong was towed into the channel between Tahiti and Moorea, holes were blasted into her and she sank to the bottom of the sea.

How creepy....
