Vehicle Advise: We would advise using a quad bike / ATV a ride on lawn mower or a small compact tractor to tow your Wilton Arena Rake.
How to use your Wilton Arena Rake in a safe and proper manner.
1) Staying about 0.5m away from the track start at the top of the arena (at “A” or “C”) and drive in an approx. 20m circles and gradually spiral your way down to the opposite end of the arena (like you are riding a 20m circle on your horse, gradually working from one end of the arena to the other) – see diagram 1.
2) Next, drive down the centre line and “track” left, turn down the centre line again just after your last track and again “track” left but just inside the track you just made, so you are now spiraling length ways left to right – see diagram 2.
3) You should always level the surface in two different directions to “cross” the leveling. Travelling in the same direction over time can cause waves and dips in the surface.
*Remember you can use both sides of the rake frame to get the required finish.
4) When you are satisfied with your leveling stop the vehicle, secure handbrake and switch off engine. Knock off any sand, fibres or rubber that have caught on the tines.
5) Next, if the surface has built up around the edge of the arena along the kick boards you need to use the side bank blade.
6) Pull out the R clip and slide out the bank blade from the side of the leveler frame then push the R clip back through the end hole of the curved round bar to stop the bank blade from coming completely out of the frame, making sure the R clip is fully pushed in the 5mm hole.
7) Drive slowly around the edge of the arena a couple of times using the side-grader blade. You may find this part of leveling a bit tricky to begin with, but as long as you drive slowly and take your time, you will quickly find this much easier than hand digging.
18) When you are completely satisfied with your leveling and top finish stop the vehicle Stop vehicle, secure handbrake and switch off engine. Slide back in the bank blade and secure in the frame again using the R clip provided and detach the rake from your vehicle, lift the rake outside of arena to a secure location out of all weather elements and store for future use.
