What does my child need to bring?
Each child should bring his/her clothing in a backpack with each item clearly marked with their name. All participants should have a good pair gloves, a warm hat, and an extra pair of socks. Snacks may be purchased at the lodge or be brought from home.
What if my child is injured at the ski area?
Your child will receive first aid from the National Ski Patrol at the mountain. If an accident occurs, we will contact you as soon as possible. Should the injury be of serious nature, your child will be transported by ambulance to the closest medial facility.
What happens in case of inclement weather?
If there is no school, there will be no Ski Club; however, we will make up the session at the end of the scheduled program.
Can I rent gear from a local shop like Ski Haus?
YES! You may be able to find local places to rent gear which allows you to use all season! Some other shops include: Ski & Sport Shack in Stoneham, and Sun & Ski Sports in Woburn.
What time will my child return?
Buses will arrive back at your child’s school at 7:00pm sharp. Often buses may arrive earlier than 7:00p.m. - depending on traffic conditions please be at the school by 6:50 p.m. to pick up your child.
What is the behavior policy?
Ski Club is an extra-curricular activity that is organized through the Athletic Department. All participants are expected to adhere to the same Code of Ethics that are in the Wilmington Public School's handbooks. Inappropriate behavior such as the use of profanity, disrespect for others and facilities may result in loss of Ski Club sessions with no refund.
Can I be a chaperone?
Of course! Anyone is welcome to meet their student athlete up at the mountain; however, if you would like to help staff and ride the bus, you will need to fill out the CORI form and be approved prior to the season. You can find the CORI form on our website, or simply visit the Roman House to fill out and provide a copy of your license/ID.
We do receive a limited number of chaperone ski passes, however, there is really no way to know if we will have enough chaperone passes available for everyone to ski week to week, until we see how many chaperones want to ski that week. You do not need to ski at all to be a chaperone! We always need assistance at the base and in the lodge! If needed, we will take turns with the chaperone passes week to week. Chaperones should arrive at the Middle school for Wednesday trips between 2:15-2:30, then head into the cafeteria at dismissal where students will meet. For Tuesday trips, chaperones should meet at the North by 3:15, or the West by 2:45.
