Selection Process

We consider many different factors when selecting our scholarship winners. The selection process is need-blind. That means we do not only consider applicants who will need a scholarship to further their education. We consider the applicants' grade point averages as well as the difficulty of their coursework. We also consider letters of recommendation from teachers and other community members. Perhaps the most important factor is the spirit and determination that the young women show in the essay portion of their application.

If you know of a deserving young woman that should be applying for our scholarship, please have her ask the counseling office at Brawley Union High School or Desert Valley High School for more information. The counseling staff can provide them with the Wildcat Women Application form and answer any questions they may have about our scholarship process. Students may email us and we can send them a link to the online scholarship form at: wildcatwomen@gmail.com.

Scholarship Award Levels

We recognize that good grades are not the only determination of success in higher education and later in life. BUHS and Desert Valley High women with a GPA of 2.2 or higher are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Review Committee

Each year we form a selection review committee to read the applications and select our scholarship recipients. This committee convenes after our annual meeting. We welcome your input. However, we ask, if one of your family members or close associates is applying for the scholarship, that you excuse yourself from participating that year.
