Welcome to my page! I am so excited to start a new school year with you. This will be my 18th year teaching fourth grade! Prior to teaching at Pine Street, I taught at R.J. Steeby Elementary. I am certainly no stranger to the Wayland Union School District. I was a student at Wayland too! I graduated from Wayland High in 2003, and headed for college at Central Michigan University. While at Central I studied Elementary Education, with a major in Social Studies and minor in Language arts. In the summer of 2013, I received my Masters Degree from Grand Valley State University. The emphasis of my degree was in Differentiated Instruction.
Throughout the year you will certainly hear stories about my family. My husband, Andy, and I have two children. Nolan will be six in October, and Hazel will turn four in January. We love to travel, although it has been interesting with two young children tagging a long.
One of my favorite ways to spend my free time is to explore the local parks with my family. We tend do spend a lot of our time outdoors. My husband coaches swimming at Grand Valley State University. On weekends you can find our family pool side cheering on the Lakers.
Besides spending time with my family, I enjoy spending time outside, baking, traveling, and reading. Students-you better watch out! I thrive off of some friendly competition with how many pages we can read in a day! If I can find time to read with a busy schedule, then my students should be able to find time as well.
I am looking forward to another great year in fourth grade! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
We took a family trip to Florida to start off our summer of 2022.
Our family also enjoyed the beauty of the sand dunes at Silver Lake!
A lot of our summer was spent on the in or around water. Here we are on Lake Michigan with friends.
