How to find widows

These 2 videos will hopefully be helpful to you if you are searching for help on how to look for widows and where. These videos were taken in a typical urban environment (my house!), but similar techniques would be used if searching deep in the woods.

When I was thinking about the creation of this page and the topic, I was originally going to make a big list of what to look for, where to look for it, and other such things. Instead of typing it all out, I thought it would be an even better idea to go out and do it.

I did not go out and find the spiders first, then make the video. The video is me going out and looking for the first time like I would if I were at a new place. I tried to cover everything I was going to type out here, in the video, so hopefully I didn't miss anything big.

(Caveat: I am not a professional videographer! haha)

Helpful tools to bring along while hunting:

-Rough stick (small tree branches work great) for probing and catching. Always good to have a stick, #1 tool.

-Headlamp for hands-free activity.

-Tuning fork of appropriate frequency (see THIS PAGE for more info) if collecting the spiders.

-Catch cups if collecting (TP-lined pill bottles are great: padding and something to climb on).

-Anything else you think you'll need. Pencil and paper if recording info, etc, etc.
