Title: Development of an Information Kiosk
Project Brief:
Nikhil developed an Information Kiosk during the final year of his Electronics Engineering course. The Kiosk consisted of a numeric keypad which was interfaced with a computer. The Kiosk was conceived as a tool to be installed in public spaces to be accessed by general public using a simple numeric pad as a stimulus.
The numeric keypad was controlled by a microcontroller which sent data through a serial port to the computer. The microcontroller (Atmel AT892051) was programmed in Assembly language.
The front-end provided information in form of web-pages, and allowed the user to browse them based on stimulus through the numeric pad. The front-end including the web-browser and interfacing was developed in Visual Basic.
