Aaron Swartz Lawyers Accuse Prosecutor Stephen Heymann of Misconduct

It’s quite clear that the federal prosecutor's office for the District of Massachusetts just doesn't get it, and apparently believes that circling the wagons is the appropriate manner to deal with what is at best, a botched prosecution with devastating and tragic results for one young man, his family and friends. Prosecutor Ortiz should welcome and fully cooperate with a thorough legislative review to help ensure that any egregious misconduct is properly exposed and punished. The Attorney General must act immediately to internally examine the need to correct systematic deficiencies and reign-in any abuses of renegade prosecutors. The public has a right to know all that happened in the Swartz case, and Ortiz's attempt to shield disclosure should be soundly rejected by the Court.

Legal Case Strained Troubled Web Activist

Prosecution was purely political and the harassment was ongoing and incessant, resulting in Swartz taking his life. His phones tapped, he, as well as his acquaintances followed and ostensibly stalked by government investigators in an attempt to find something substantive to augment a prosecution on the rails. That they won't reveal the names of the individuals to the Public or to Congress, is simply the bastardized confession of a morally bankrupt politically motivated persecution.

Bullying someone is a despicable act. People commit suicide every day because their fellow human beings have turned on them with unimaginable cruelty. But when the bullies happen to be coercive state agencies, and the victim feels trapped with nowhere to turn, it goes way beyond bullying - premeditated murder comes to mind. Those who live by the sword shall die by it. Sadly, that's the way the world works. So, if the people complicit in Aaron's death are feeling a bit uncomfortable right now ... GOOD!!!!
