Creating a Retro Comic Book Cover with Photoshop
- Open a new Photoshop document that is 8.5 x 11 inches with a transparent background.
- Choose a topic for your comic book and pick a main character for your cover.
- Go to google and find an image to use for your cover and save the image to your Multimedia 2 folder.
- Be sure that image is at least 600x600 pixels for the resolution. Otherwise when you pixelate it, it will not look right.
- Open the image in Photoshop and follow the instructions from Project 7 --Retro Comic Effect. Then you can drag the image into your cover. Be sure to merge or group all of the layers before moving.
- Choose a background color for the cover and fill the background.
- Create a title and a slogan or catch phrase for the comic book. Use the Text Tool to insert the text. Use font style and color of your choice. You can also use the Text Warp feature if you choose.
- Add a text bubble and a saying to the main character.
- Add a bar code, price tag sticker, and text for the volume # and date.
