William Wordsworth is considered to be one of the greatest English lyric poets.
The "Encyclopedia of World Biography" describes him as an early leader
of romantacism in English poetry. Wordsworth lived from 1770 until 1850.
The Prelude is considered as his masterpiece. It was published by his wife in 1850
after Wordsworth had already passed away. He started writing the autobiographical poem in 1798.
