New England

New England is a region of the North-Eastern United States, which comprises of six states, namely Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. In 1614 it was named by the English explorer John Smith.

English Protestants were the first European settlers of New England who gave the region its characteristic policy. It attaches a lot of importance to education and has top-ranking universities like Harvard and Yale.

Also America's first college, Harvard, was founded in Massachusetts (Cambridge) in 1636.
